How to Remove Border Paper

We have decided to give our 1980s home a modern remodel. We are working on two rooms at the same time. One is our son’s former bedroom. We are converting it to my craft room. The second room is the upstairs bathroom. This bathroom has been well used! I wanted to remove the border paper and some leftover wallpaper behind the mirror. I tried a couple of different methods before I found what works for me.

Here is the border paper that we have peeled off in different areas. We had water damage around the A/C vent.

I was using Goof Off in other areas of the remodel, so I decided to give it a try. The results were amazing! I sprayed a small area at a time. Be sure to have a cloth to wipe the drip. I let it sit for a couple of minutes.

I used a razor blade like this one to lift the paper in tough areas. The wallpaper separated from the glue. I would spray a little more of the Goof Off directly on the glue and use the scrapper to peel the glue.

Like I said, I used a couple of different methods.  This one was by far the best.  The border paper and wall paper came off easily. I did have a few areas to fill in before I painted.

There you go! I hope this was as helpful for you as it was for me.
