Supplies:

Vaseline
Spray Paint
Rag
Sandpaper
Drop Cloths

As part of our house remodel, I decided to paint our old master bedroom furniture.  It’s new home will be in our guest room.  I wanted something to coordinate with our new bamboo hardwood floor, our newly painted white baseboards and Sherwin William’s Agreeable Gray walls.

I went for it and distressed the furniture using the Vaseline method.

It was so easy!  Trust me—it was easy!

I forgot to take a Before picture, so I quickly snapped one in the middle of the job.

I lightly sanded this headboard.

Using my finger, I applied the Vaseline to the areas I wanted to distress.

Next, I spray painted.

I used Rust-Oleum Satin Paint and Primer in white.

I waited about an hour and gave it another coat.

I didn’t wait for it to completely dry before I took a rag and wiped away the paint where the Vaseline was applied.

Here is the end result.  I was extremely pleased with the final outcome!
